Harbor of Claudius

The Harbor of Claudius is a big harbor that takes its name from the Emperor that demanded its building; in the Republican age it had to meet the growing needs of Rome that used to use the far Pozzuoli’s harbor and the small Ostia’s one.
The Harbor of Claudius is 3 km to the north from the Tiber mouth and consists of a wide dock with two pincer-shaped wharfs.
