Tor Boacciana

Tor Boacciana, from the medieval age, is the ancient lighthouse of Ostia. In the past, together with the lighthouse of Alexandria, on the Nile, it signed the most travelled routes of the Mediterranean Sea and defended the Tiber mouth against the invasions of the Saracen pirates. Successively it was also used as custom house and wayfarers’ house and, in recent times, as cattle and then private home.
