Fiumicino

The name Fiumicino comes from the latin flumen micinum, that is “small river”.
With more than 50.000 inhabitants, Fiumicino faces the Tyrrhenian Sea in the south-west and the Tibur in the north, and includes 7 zones: Sacred Island, Fiumicino, Fregene, Maccarese south, Maccarese north, Torrimpietra and Palidoro.

We can find here the International Airport “Leonardo Da Vinci” and the shopping centre “Parco Leonardo” . Between Fregene and Focene there is also an important WWF protected zone called Macchiagrande Oasis.
