The modern town of Ostia was born on the Tyrrhenian coast, on a former marsh that was reclaimed at the end of XIX century. Known as Ostia Lido (or Lido of Rome), it is situated in the XIII Municipality of Rome.
Ostia town is sometimes confused with Ostia Antica (Ancient Ostia) that is constituted by Lido di Ostia Ponente (West Ostia Lido) and Lido di Ostia Levante (East Ostia Lido).
